Lochinver – Highland Stoneware Pottery
In design, landscapes, photos on March 12, 2006 at 4:12 pmThese photos were taken on a visit to Highland Stoneware, Lochinver. All around there are examples of the work, dotted around the landscape. The landscape of the Scottish Highlands seems to be a major influence on the pottery designs as well.
Amongst the rocks leading up to the pottery there are sheep, fish, flowers, landscapes and much more.
Loch Assynt features in some of the landscapes, although I couldn’t find a broken pot with their design, here is a picture of the loch, against a rather cloudy sky (how appropriate!).
See their website for a great picture.
And finally: Cheers to the Scottish Weather! I just got this snap in before the cloud level fell too far…
Extra Chocolatey Cake
In food, photos on March 12, 2006 at 3:56 pmSome cake survived to be photographed. Next time I'll remember to take the photo first! This is Dark Chocolate, Coffee, Walnut and Almond cake – one day I'll post the recipe on cookalicious.
Fairtrade Fortnight
In fairtrade, useful on March 6, 2006 at 12:02 amSo, Fairtrade goods are starting to reach the High Street clothes shops – unfortunately that seems to be London's Oxford Street for the moment – however there are some online shops that I can recommend for the rest of us.
Buy fair trade organic cotton clothing online:
For those who like to see, touch and try before they buy, how about right here in Edinburgh's city centre? Go to the One World Shop, St. John's Church, Princes Street Edinburgh EH2 4BJ.
Enjoy!

And remember to buy fairtrade food whenever you see the logo:
- Bananas
- Citrus Fruits
- Coffee
- Tea
- Mangoes
- Sugar
- Chocolate and cocoa
- and much more…
Me and My Paella
In food, holidays, me, photos on March 4, 2006 at 3:24 pmI decided should add a picture of me somewhere, well here you are…This is me in Spain, going to get extra paella from the cook – in a lovely paella place next to the beach at Nerja, Andalucia.
And now for some close ups of the paella as they are much more interesting than more pictures of me…

Serving up some freshly cooked paella.

The cook, stiring up another bubbling paella for the hungry customers.
